Applications

BGMJ capacitor are gas type dry self-healing capacitor built in an aluminium can. The dielectric consists of low loss matellized poly propylene film and protective gas, capacitor have smaller dimension a long operation life, a high ac load capacity and can be installed n any position because of the gas dry construction. Motor starting and moving capacitor can be supplied.

2.Using Condition:-25℃/+50℃ Humidity≤90%RH Altitude ≤2000m.

3.Over- voltage Permitted:1.0Un、1.1Un8h/d、1.3Un1min.

4.Over-Current Permitted: 1.3In.

5.Impact current: ≤300ln.

6.Allowable offset on reactive-load Power: -5-+10%.

7.Loss Angle Tangent(Power Frequency Rated Voltag tg δ ≤0.0015.

8.Dielectric Loss: ≤0.25W/kvar.

9.Testing Voltage: Between Poles2.15Un 10s Between and Housing 3000VAC 60S.

Electrical Connection

User is recommended to use a cable of min temperature withstand capacity of 90°C.

Use flexible cables.

Paralleling of the capacitor should not be done at the capacitor terminals as shown in the figure. Ensure that the paralleling is done at contactor side and two separate cables are coming to the capacitor terminals from contactor(See figure with"Right"connection).

This instruction is applicable for all types of terminals in Var Plus can.

Ventilation

Capacitors, contactors, fuses and electrical connections generate heat dissipation(about 2.5 W/kvar total or 8 W/kvar with series reactors).

Specific precautions must be taken in order not to exceed temperature values of -25℃/+55℃ (class D) category around the capacitors inside the cubicle. (refer to"Installation Guide"for moreinformation).

The airflow inside the cubicle must go from bottom to top.


Harmonics

User is advised to check the harmonic content in the system before installation of capacitor. In case of high harmonics content in the network, it is necessary to use specifically adapted capacitors with additional series reactors to avoid resonance phenomena(detuned reactors).

The use of inappropriate capacitor will reduce its life time.


Switching And Protection Devices

Use switching devices designed for capacitor switching duty if the capacitors are used alone. User can select normal contactor for switching with inrush current limiter such as detuned reactors

Protection devices such as MCB, MCCBs must be used along with every capacitor steps in a power factor correction panel or used for standalone pf compensation.

After switching off a capacitor, a delay of at least 1 minute must be allowed before switching on again to ensure the discharge of individual capacitor step/unit before re-connection.


Safety

All operations described in this user manual must be carried out in compliance with safety standards under the responsibility of a competent authority.

To access installed capacitors.

Switch off main power supply.

Switch off power supply control circuit.

Allow capacitor discharge time(1 minute).

Short circuit and earth the terminals to ensure that capacitors are fully discharged.

Caution: Do not touch the capacitor terminals before discharging.


Attention

Wrong selection of capacitor with respect to duty to be performed will cause over heating over stress, and it shortens the life of capacitor and hence user should take proper care for selection of capacitor and maintain the operating conditions.
